1) MOVER COST:  The first way to control spending and stress is to be financially ready for the task ahead. Pronto Boxes recommends that you have your mover do a proper visual inspection and give a quote in writing.  Always ask what additional charges may apply to your move.  You can also save by prepping for moving day with the use of a calendar and moving checklist.  Purging is a great way to lighten the load and expense of moving.  You might sell some items on facebook or reddit.  

2)  MOVE DATES:  Try to avoid moving between June and September.  This is the peak season and it will be more expensive as movers get moving.  You can save ~25% by moving outside these months.  There are also potential savings if you book further in advance and/or avoid moving on holidays, weekends or the beginning or end of the month.

3)  MOVING & PACKING SUPPLIES:   We don't recommend that you skimp on protecting your valuable.  Packing material can get to be expensive but there are ways to cut costs on moving. You can organize a self move for smaller items and use household items such as bed and bath linen to wrap your items in.  You can also rent plastic moving boxes and reuse them as you move some valuables on your own to save space on your movers truck.

The adage that you get what you pay for is the best that you can hope for in most instances.  An over promise and under deliver is not what we pay for.
